Spraying of pesticides will not solve this zika virus problem. It will kill beneficial insects, and potentially create a resistant strain of mosquitos.

As a grandmother, a beekeeper and one concerned about what kind of legacy we leaving our children, the pesticides need to be stopped. They are poisoning our foods, weakening our immune systems and causing many health problems. Stop the genocide!

As a biologist and environmentalist, I think it is not only unnecessary but also very detrimental to spray toxic pesticides in an attempt to stop a disease that is not present in the area.

I urge you to think of the future, and not spray unnecessary chemicals throughout Southern California.

I lived a short time in San Diego and now live in Jackson County, Oregon, where our Vector Control also sprays using a synthetic pesticide called DeltaGard. It's extremely toxic to fish and invertebrates and highly toxic to bees. We hope you get the signatures you need to make change. So many are in the dark about the hazards of spraying thinking it's the best solution for combating mosquitoes. When in fact, it's the beginning of a long, dark journey that disrupts the food chain and dramatically changes the landscape of biodiversity. And then there's human health which is certainly impacted. We cannot douse ourselves in toxins and then be surprised about a cancer epidemic.

Hope this petition causes a change. We are killing ourselves. Jackson County in Oregon also has a petition to stop the spraying of DeltaGard by our Vector Control. https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-pyrethroid-spraying-for-mosquito-control-by-jackson-county-vector-control-district One correction: Gold Hill is also now a Bee City and concerned about the health of the Pollinators and the People - And All Creatures and Critters. We must raise awareness. We Are poisoning Us.

No need to spray the neighborhoods. Just quarantine those affected.
