After being on the girls cross country team for 1 year, it has shown me how close the cross country team is. The reason why it is so close is because of the special bond between the teammates and the the coaches. This is an amazingly talented team, and that is because east and west are combined to form one big talented team. It is better this way. It makes the cross country team different than most of the other sports held in our schools, and the future runners of the cross country teams in smithtown should not miss out on this experience.

When I first joined the cross country team I saw how everyone was like a family. As a freshman it was great to join a team that sticks together. I was immediatley accepted by not only my new freshmen friends but also the upperclassmen. Smithtown Cross Country allowed me to have many friends from West and East and allowed me to become part of that big family I saw when I first joined and I rlly hope I'm able to still have this family when I'm an upperclassmen and have the new freshman feel like I did when I first joined. The motivation from everyone on and off the courses really shows how we aren't only a team but a family. Please don't split up this team because without it this sport wouldn't feel or be the same.

I have been apart of this team for the last 4 years of my high school career. These years have been filled with friendships and support that I wouldn't have had if the teams were not combined. This team had a family atmosphere that I have never gotten from any other sports team. I hope that the teams continue to be combined so future cross country runners can share the amazing experience that I had. I will be forever greatfull that I have had the chance to be apart of this one of a kind team and family.

As a former Smithtown XC athlete, I feel that having one team was a really important aspect of the teams success and led to me making many of the friends that made my high school experience so special!
