Most of the comments are ill-informed, because the plan is not to build a new international airport but to extend the runway to accommodate larger planes from manila and maybe other international destinations.
I fly to Siargao every couple of month, to me it is an issue of safety, because landing in Siargao is a hair raising experience due to the short runway.
I am happy with the ongoing roads upgrades, and extending the airport runway is a natural next step, in addition to proper waste management, and proper medical facilities.
I think improvements to Siargao airport will bring more job opportunities for the local population.
