home to many beautiful Filipinos, Siargao Island holds a special place towards the locals in the communities around the island. with a land area of approximately 437 square kilometres, an implementation of an international airport is not what the tear drop shaped island needs. A greater focus on health facilities and greater access to medical attention is of priority, but an expansion of the airport only creates conflict. please sign the petition, for an international airport is not needed! there are far more important issues and/or projects that should be addressed on the island, for example; waste management issues, clean drinking water, continuous blackouts and electricity. - a few of many things that are more important to put time and money into that is beneficial for the people and communities.

I am pro this petition because I saw the current state of boracay and el nido it is a far cry from the beauty it used to be. Though I am planning to visit siargao next yr I believe they don't need hoards of tourists to come and destroy their own paradise.
The government's priority should be the Filipinos who live on this island, not those who will visit nor the foreigners looking for another playground. The several billion pesos for an airport will go a long way in providing for the needs of the islanders.
I am not a local of siargao but the first time i went to the island i felt inlove with it. I saw the love of locals to their beloved island. This gem should be preserved. Capitalism should not promote tourism only but also the needs of the people living the island.
This island and the people living in it are way to beautiful to get destroyed by a project they don’t need right now. Medical centers, healthcare issue, waste managment must be the priority among building an airport right now. Let’s pray for some sense of reason!
There are far more important things to solve first. They haven’t even solved the problem with waste management here and yet they are already attracting more tourists=more garbages. Most especially a more reliable hospital for the more people flocking in.

Why in the world would a small beautiful island like Siargao need an international airport before a real hospital. This is pure idiocy. Siargao needs to be protected from becoming one of those horrible tourist attractions that destroy the islands natural state.
