Stop the Shootings – Grassy Park Police Station to take Action Now!
Gang shootings in the Grassy Park precinct (Lotus River, Pelican Park, Ottery and surrounds) have spiralled out of control. In recent months, residents have faced a surge in gun violence, with many incidents happening in broad daylight. Commuters, municipal staff, EPWP workers and, most tragically, children are at constant risk.
We, the residents and stakeholders under the Grassy Park precinct, will not accept living in fear. We call on the Grassy Park Community Policing Forum (CPF) to urgently host a public community meeting so that this crisis is addressed openly with the people it affects most.
We further demand that the South African Police Service at Grassy Park Police Station present a clear plan of action, including the specific steps they will take to secure more operational resources and improve visible policing in our area.
Our community’s safety is not negotiable. We demand urgent, transparent and effective action.
We sign this petition to demand:
- An urgent public meeting between the CPF, SAPS, and the community.
- A detailed plan from SAPS for increased resources and crime prevention.
- Clear timelines and accountability for action.
The violence must stop. We will not stay silent!
