For years students have managed to wear a proper and traditional tie and so why when schools should be concentrating on supporting their students in learning and achieving do we have a new directive to wear a childish clip on tie? Apparently the student council voted for this? It seems that the school actually failed to consult with their own students let alone their parents!

According to the letter, students will have an increased sense of community with the new "house coloured" ties...shame many of them have suddenly been taken from their existing house and told they have to change..what sense of house community does this inspire.

Young people will always want to express a little individuality and surely the governing body should not feel quite so threatened by a different sytled knot in a tie? Students walk home with their styled ties and represent their school with pride. Now when they leave the school their ties will be resigned to the bottom of their bags.

Is this health and safety gone mad? The new tie is unpleasant.
