Aberglasslyn is a rapidly expanding suburb of Maitland, located in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. Originally known as "The Country Estate", Aberglasslyn was surrounded by paddocks and bushland which have now been developed into numerous sub-divisions such as "The Sanctuary" and "Weblands Wonderland". It is a beautiful region which soars upwards, providing great views of Maitland Vale and the Hunter River.

But this beautiful, vegetation rich area is under threat. Developers are continuously tearing down vegetation and habitable areas, destroying ecosystems and continuing to develop more and more residential areas, without considering the societal and environmental impacts.

Urban growth has also resulted in a reduction of quality of life for current and future residents of Aberglasslyn. There has been a reduction in road sizes, land sizes, dwelling gaps, open spaces, community events, affordable housing, air quality and aesthetic appeal. To cope with the rapid growth and population increase no action has been taken. Aberglasslyn, which was once the region's most beautiful and celebrated areas is now another suburb left tainted and tarnished by urban growth.
