The administration has formally reversed their decision to close the Uxbridge College Nursery. This outcome reflects the commitment of everyone who advocated for this vital resource. We will maintain our focus on the nursery in the coming months to ensure this commitment to our community remains secure.

Uxbridge College have had nursery, on the Hayes Campus site for nearly 20 years. Over the years it has cared for hundreds children, belonging to staff and students as well as children from the local community.

If the proposed closure of this nursey goes ahead, the community will lose 52 nursery places, which there is already a shortage of in this area, (especially for the under 2's) and 19 members of staff will lose their jobs.

The building the nursey is housed in was purpose built in 2004,it has its own kitchen, underfloor heating, it has 4 seperate rooms (for the different ages) and each room has access to a garden.

We need to change the Governers minds about this closure, if the nursery closure goes ahead, it will have a great impact on the current and future staff and students of Uxbridge College and the local community

Updates

January 17, 2012

The feedback from local families regarding the value of this facility confirms that the proposed closure would be a significant loss to our community. I am currently compiling these accounts to present before the board as we prepare for the next step in our efforts.

The momentum behind this effort has grown significantly in recent days. Your continued engagement demonstrates the clear value this facility holds for our community and the families it serves.

Used to send my son here years ago and the staff were brilliant. Terrible decision.

This nursery is the only reason I can actually attend my classes. If they close it down I have to drop out. Think about the students!!

So much for supporting the local community. Shame on the governors.

My daughter loves this place. Getting childcare is already a nightmare around here and closing this is just plain wrong.

Unbelievable. 19 people losing their jobs for no reason? Leave the nursery alone.
