Stop The Privatization of Hancock County Library System!

Our library system is a gem with great resources, events and a very competent and friendly staff. Please leave our library as is - NO
privatization.

Libraries are PUBLIC services, not private. I don't want my tax dollars that should be support our library going to someone's profit margin.

This is important- it is not political- it is a basic right of every town to have a Library run by the City. I loved mine growing up in Natchez-learned to read there and to appreciate that there was a big world out there...my Library programs and books gave me the confidence to become a successful business person and to travel the world...

Libraries are essential in a civil society. Our library should represent its citizens. It should not be for profit.

As a mother of two girls and a homeschool mom; our library system is very helpful to our family. The people that works at all of the library branches; are very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. We use the library a lot through out the year; it would be a shame to lose it all to a CEO and management team that does not care about our community nor our people. The Hancock community Library holds many projects through out the whole year; for children of all ages, as well as for adults. I would like to keep our public library public and continue to enjoy the many benefits of having it so!

This is a bad deal. It reflects poorly on the intelligence of our Board of Supervisors and all their advisors.

Libraries are a civic service funded by tax dollars. This is not a business. I don't even understand how you could make money off of it. Nonetheless, privatization by a corporation is not the way to go.

I love our library and don't want people who are not from here controlling it. Look at what privatization has done to the prison system. The almighty dollar can't replace autonomy and a passion for literacy.

The Hancock Library system is a gem. The excellent Bay Library is one of the reason I moved here. It has continued strong despite funding cuts. Stop pursuing privitazation.

Who thought this up???? The library is a service to the community and used daily in a multitude of ways for the entire population.... it is not a business... whose hands are in these pockets ...

I use the library weekly and have also enjoyed their programs. They do a wonderful job and shouldn't be replaced with different management that doesn't care about Hancock County and it's citizens.

Once privatized, the library system will only work to the benefit of LSSI's owners - the needs of the residents of Hancock County will ALWAYS be secondary to a for-profit corporation.

I believe after doing a bit of research that privatizing the Hancock County Libraries would be a huge mistake. I believe we would lose a large sense of community in doing so and we would have a barebones corporation which would definitely not run a library with regard to citizens. Our devoted library employees have everything to lose.
