Too much traffic, insufficient schooling, ignoring mining culture, killing yet more greenery and wildlife, yet more new houses no one will be able to afford. All valid reasons to oppose.

As a former president of the Seaton Sluice Community Association, I can tell you this would be a VERY bad idea. The charm of the area is it's green areas, and as stated in the petition, the schools are overloaded as it is, meaning any children living there would have to fight for a placement or be shipped elsewhere. Why destroy all the villages in the area through over development?

How will the school cope if the development goes ahead? They are already turning local children away due to being at capacity.

the road in our beautiful village can not take the increase in traffic that these houses will bring and if this happens it will make it dangerous for is horse rides to ride through the village due to the increase of the traffic on such small roads

What I also dislike is the fact that the barratts representatives lied to us all at the meeting to look at the plans. I was told that they had discussed the planning with the local schools (seaton sluice, new hartley, Whytrig and Astley) and that the schools were all for it. He even said Mr Wright (head of new harltey) had approved mobile classrooms for the extra pupils. When asked, Mr Wright said nobody had approached him about any of this and staff at Whytrig have said the same. All lies

Apart from traffic congestion and loss of green belt grazing, that land is covered in bell pits.

Our village needs to stay that, a village! Our roads and schools cannot cope with these extra houses, not to mention the impact on the countryside and wildlife!
