Dear Concerned Citizen:
Please help stop the misappropriation of Nassau County funds through The Environmental Bond Act. Over 77% of the voters in 2004 and 2006 overwhelmingly voted to create open space, improve park and recreational facilities, prevent pollution, as well as protect our water supply and fisheries to the tune of $150, 000,000.00 dollars. My project [Park Improvement category] PI-046 The Roderick Cockerham Botanical Peace Garden situated in the hamlet of Lakeview, Long Island was nominated and after acceptance initially received $125,000.00 voted unanimously for by the Nassau County Legislature. Every required quarterly report indicated money was appropriated by the Nassau County Legislature for PI-046 The Roderick Cockerham Botanical Peace Garden. Shortly after the Ed Mangano administration took office, former judge and Lakeview resident Carnell Foskey became county parks commissioner and the subtle changes to the name of the project changed from The Roderick Cockerham Botanical Peace Garden as to official county signs, correspondences, drawings, renderings and emails to "Lakeview Peace Garden". Just recently, some portions of Lakeview residents received a post card invitation from Legislator Robert Troiano to a “ribbon cutting” ceremony of the illegitimate name “Lakeview Peace Garden” Tuesday, May 28, 2013 @11AM, in which we successfully stopped the bogus ceremony. This wass an affront to county residents, especially to the Lakeview community and the family of the late teenager Roderick Cockerham who was killed over 20 years ago. Funds were only appropriated for park improvement #046 The Roderick Cockerham Botanical Peace Garden. Any other name is illegitimate and fraudulent. We are thankful the Mangano administration canceled the ribbon cutting and now the name matter can be resolved by the passing of a legislative resolution.
With sincere appreciation,
Cay Fatima Project Director for Roderick Cockerham Botanical Garden

Dear County Executive Edward Mangano and Nassau County Legislators: I support and please pass a resolution to “officially” name Environmental Bond Act Project PI#046-The Roderick Cockerham Botanical Peace Garden.
