We do not need or want this! Big bus stations are a magnet for troubles we don't want. Nor do we need to jam up the downtown traffic flow with a glut of buses. Don't do this to us!

I totally agree with Bob Ratto and Anonymous. High density housing in Novato is NOT was the community wants or needs. I keep asking - water, water, water? There are numerous houses empty and ready to be occupied and would eliminate high density mentality.

First - buses work better when they pick up and deliver at distributed bus stops which people can walk to or park cars nearby WITHOUT a central hub. There is no evidence that a significant number of people switch buses at San Rafael (or any other bus hub except in very dense urban areas such as the SFMTA or NYC Port Authority). The future of buses is in computer-directed decentralized pickup and return rather than hubs.
Second - If one wanted a bus hub, it should be at the best connection area for all those who might switch depart or otherwise connect at the hub. The logical place is at the Park and Ride area at Rowland, or a new park and ride built in the area of the Marin Community Clinic/old Charlie Bolton's. This area could have a South-bound freeway access added if it were busy enough (ha).
Third - there is no way that pedestrian overpasses can be built both ways on Old Redwood for a mere $5 million, and without them any bus station will increase pedestrian danger whether the station is in the median or on either side.
Fourth - If a hub is useful to Golden Gate Transit, they should pay for it and build it from their budget. Is that what is proposed (double ha)?
