It seems to me as a taxpayer that the MOECC should have some responsibility to explain to me, a taxpayer, why the planned septic sight off of highway 118 is an environmentally safe proposal.

Three points I need to make:
First, before we moved into our home we were told by the previous owner the site was no longer operating.
Second, I know of no lies I have told.
Third, a quote from a memo by Robert Holland, Hydrogeologist, MOECC, October 28, 2014 following water sampling from our well AFTER the site was closed:
"As stated in my earlier memoranda, I have considered other sources such as septic system, animal waste, and well construction and still find no other reasonable source(s) of groundwater impairment north of the site other than the Cooper site. Based on the relative quantities and strength of bio solids versus raw sewage, I believe that septage spreading is responsible for the majority of groundwater impairment observed north of the site to date. Based on the above, I conclude: 1) The Cooper site has caused groundwater impairment to the well water supplies located at (our address plus 2 neighbours addresses) due to elevated levels of bacteria; and 2) Based on the relative quantities and strength of bio solids versus raw sewage, that septage spreading from the Haliburton Septage Disposal Site HL GI 05-001 is responsible for the majority of groundwater impairment observed to date."

Hey Murray, Obviously my name on the petition is a boo boo and is being taken off. You better read back a little as the Welchs have my name all over this comment section bad mouthing me. I didn't start this, they did.Better have a chat with them. The MoE did not close that site they just did not renew it, Plus if you had your facts right you would also know the real reason for not renewing this site. Again shotting your mouth off when you don't have the facts. It is the Welchs that have blown this all out of wack. Please give me a call and I will fill you in as there isn't enough room here to tell.

The Welch's unfortunately had to fight the battle to stop the septic dumping site on their own. However that is not the case now. They have the support of over 800 people. There is no question that the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change closed this site because of bad practices,
Please do not stoop to innuendo and name calling. It does not help your cause, if you have one in any way. Also if you notice your name nor your company name were ever mentioned in this ipetition, thank you for making that public knowledge.

I think you people better get your facts straight. First of all we are not putting sludge on the field, it is YOUR sewage. What do you think happens when you flush your toilet ? It goes into your septic bed and leaches into the ground feet away from your lake and wells. I really think you should have all the right info before you go off ranting about something you do not have the facts about. What about all the tin cans you have in the ground you call septic tanks? You make it out that we would be dumping right into the creek and pond. REALLY PEOPLE!!!! You say I'm not concerned about the properties around me. I'am, and thats why we hired a consultant to do a study on the new site. Now, about the Welchs, if they didn't want a septic field in there back yard than they shouldn't have bought the house. Plain and simple! This site has been there long before they came along. They keep saying that I'm at fault do to my practices. TOTALLY FALSE, I did not do anything wrong and I did follow all the rules and regulations set by the province. The Welchs are not telling the truth at all and have been caught in many lies along the way. I'm sure if the province thought I was doing something wrong I would have been charged and thats not the case at all. I have kept quiet this past year about all the false rumours the Welchs have started and maybe its time I tell people the truth. Bring it on Welchs,

Having lived with this hauler operating behind our property I can tell you that every voice counts in this extremely important initiative you have underway. Our well was contaminated with fecal streptococcus last year. This was proven to be caused by this haulers practices at the site that was located behind our home. Runoff from this site entered the river in front of our house by way of a culvert under Hwy 118. This river runs downstream into Maple Lake. Living with a septage dumping site as my neighbour was a horrible experience. The smell, the dust, the pollution going on and feeling helpless to stop it. Finally the MOECC listened and took action. Our government must do something to change the rules surrounding this activity. Our community is more populated than in days gone by. Our values of the environment are stronger. We have educated ourselves to understand the ecosystem cannot sustain itself under these kinds of pressures. Encourage all your contacts to sign this petition and send your comments to our local and provincial government and the Peterborough District office of the MOECC. Jen Maher-Welch, Haliburton

Wet lands with a creek running through it. Now that sound just perfect for dumping waste. It will be in Maple Lake before the truck is off the site. As a child I made a little boat and ran it down the natural run off water course on our farm. The boat went half the length of the long hundred acre farm in a little over an hour. The government has to get serious about properly processing waste. South of Peterborough, on some of the best farm land in Canada, a fellow used to use processed waste from the Peterborough sewage treatment plant. The wheat started weighing lighter every year until the buyers really did not want his grain. Fertilizing the fields is obviously not an option either.
