OUR GRANDCHILDREN MATTER TOO !!! SAVE MAPLE LAKE !!!
Sewage sludge of any class is such a complex and unpredictable mixture of biowaste pathogens and chemical compounds that even if all the constituents were known, it would still be impossible to reliably assess the health risks when this toxic waste is land applied and potentially contaminating not only our drinking water and groundwater but harming protected wildlife habitat and significant wetlands and creeks . Potentially contaminating the area for decades !!!
There are 120 plus homes/cottages and all but a few are on the down hill side of this project and most of the homes/cottages are on drilled wells. All at risk of becoming contaminated.... HELP STOP IT NOW !!!
We need to work with all levels of Government for a safe practical solution to this septic issue.
Please Help STOP THIS SEPTAGE DUMP SITE BY SIGNING THIS PETITION!!!
WE DO NOT WANT ANOTHER WALKERTON WATER TRAGEDY.
We need to unite our voices and demand that this application submitted to the Ministry of Environment for a parcel of land on the South East corner of Highway 118 and 25th Line Road, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario to be used for a SEPTAGE DUMP SITE NOT TO BE APPROVED !!
2003 MOE STATES WILL NO LONGER PERMIT SEPTAGE FIELDS
CCME (Canada Conference of Environment Ministers)
-only treated septage to on fields but lack treatment capacity
-6 provinces only allow treated to field
MOECC site approval considerations
-distance to water/dwellings/wetlands
-slope of land, soil conditions, odour
-ground water, surface water
This site is worse than neighbouring Green Lake site that MOE would not re:permit
STOP THIS SITE and promote safe, practical solutions
Please sign this petition and share it with others. Together, we CAN make a difference!
