This area has a high concentration of residents who live here for the small town feel and tightness of the neighborhoods. There are a couple of small shopping centers, one anchored by a Food Lion grocery store. These small shopping centers are also home to many local small business that are struggling to survive. While the addition of this proposed store may give the illusion of creating new jobs and improving infrastructure, it will do the opposite. It will tax an already difficult to navigate stretch of roadway and will ultimately hurt business for the small local businesses. It also stands a good chance of dealing the death blow to the Food Lion. If this happens we may have a shiny new grocery store, but we will also have an eyesore of a vacant shopping center sitting smack in the entrance to our little slice of heaven. Please do not allow this, there is neither the need, nor the room.
