Council don't own ground they are ment to maintain it. If you buy a plot/family plot it's yours if they are any problem with the height of a headstone why did the council not say sooner

One of the most obvious sights to see in today's society, is that migrants coming to this country, are offered all kinds of services. These services include respect for their culture, and so it should be. But whilst support for migrants seems to be increasing, it appears that our very own cultures and subcultures are being ignored and eroded. Irish travellers have a culture that should be respected period!! What's really difficult to comprehend, is councillors in this case believe they have the right to ignore the travelling culture, even in death! Travellers have been erecting headstones and surroundings on graves in their own way for hundreds of years, so it's not about suddenly erecting headstones such as this out of the blue. Theres been a very similar headstone erected recently in Coalisland grave yard, and there's not a single word spoke in protest. Reading this storey for me certainly feels like the travelling community has a very bitter pill to swallow. Why? because it seems that it's the council that's erroneous regarding this action as it is THEY, who are all of a sudden, adopting an American type model of burials in graveyards. Get real this is Ireland! This family are doing nothing wrong, they are simply burying their dead in their own way. No one, absolutely no one should tell the travelling community how, or what way they should erect a gravestone, honouring those whom they have loved all their lives. God Bless, may this lad rest in peace. To the Lisburn council, leave this family alone!!!!

Leave the grave alone and let the family have their place with John and let them continue looking after it as they are. It's a credit to them this is a 14year old child the council needs to learn the word RESPECT
