Stop The Lawsuit Against Florida's Tax Credit Scholarships (Step Up For Students)

The scholarship has been a blessing for our family in both our children's education and spirituality. A true meaning of both freedom of religion and freedom of choice. We, the parent, are able to choose where our children's educational needs are best met, not a zip code.

My daughter can't work in a regular school. I support the Florida's Tax credit scholarship to help my daughter succeed. Please don't eliminate it.

We need this!!! My daughter has been perfoming extremely well in school this year, head and shoulders above last year. But as a single mother, I need this assistance so she can be the best she can.

I want this Tax Credit Scholarship to be upheld so many students who need it can go to the school of their choice to assist their parents as the primary educators of their children.

To end this scholarship would be devastating to many low-income children currently receiving a quality education from which their parents' financial position would have excluded them.

Parents should have a CHOICE in where there students attend school. Their financial ability to pay should not prevent them for attending any private school in their area if the public school education is failing to meet their child's need.

I am someone who has benefited a great deal from the Step up For Students scholarships. It has always been my position that I would never have attended college had I not attended an alternate school that accepted the scholarship. Because of SUFS, I discovered my love for academia and graduated high school with 61 transferable college credits in 2013. Today, I am a senior at UCF, a member of the honors college, and will next semester be completing an undergraduate thesis. Education is not one size fits all; and arguably, in the public school system, crafting education material around the needs of each individual student is tedious and effort intensive--teachers do not have the time nor resources to do this. At alternative schools where the scholarship is accepted, classroom sizes are smaller; the ability to mold educative materials to the individual needs of each student is more easily and effectively done. This approach is what worked best for myself, my fellow classmates and playfellows, and countless other students I have met along the way. The scholarships have a purpose. The schools serve a purpose. If the SUFS scholarship is what it takes for students to achieve their academic goals, then by all means I support it; and any arguments to the contrary betray the notion that each young American has the right to a valuable and competitive education, whether it be while enrolled in a public school receiving public funds or in an alternative private school receiving public/private funds. I am an ex administrator for the Marion County Public School System and I totally endorse Step Up for Students. The scholarships help parents find and outsource for their children as well as help public schools with students who find it difficult to learn in large classroom settings.

I like to know for why the need to do that?

Education is the basis for our country's future. Please do not penalize efforts to help our students build on their future successes!

If it wasn't for Step Up my children wouldn't have been able to continue their Catholic school foundation they've had for over 5yrs all due to my going through a horrific divorce. My children have dealt with a lot, losing the family status they once had, the only home they ever knew, many months not knowing if the electric would be shut off, but the one concrete thing they knew, the one safety they had was their catholic foundation through school and amazing teachers, without step up I could not have continued their education in the same way. Public school is good yes, I am a public school teacher now, but what they've needed these last 2 years they could not have gotten at a public school. I thank god every day for the miracles that have gotten us this far but especially for step up! Thank you!

As a school principal, I know first hand the impact of the Step Up for Students Scholarship. Some students need the foundation and personalized educational opportunity that a Catholic school has to offer and families should have the right to choose this option.

My brothers and I were on a Tax Credit Scholarship for all of high school. Attending the school we did enabled us to enter college at 15 and graduate at 18 with AA degrees with honors. Now we're spread throughout the military and college and certainly would not be here without this scholarship.
