The schools on the westside if Jacksonville are awful. There is absolutely no reason this scholarship should be taken away. People who care enough to apply and qualify to give their children a better education environment should be applauded not punished!

Step up for Students has helped hundreds of students to receive an education in their school of their parents' choice. It will not be in the best interest of those children if they lose one of the most valuable things in their lives, EDUCATION.

Step Up for Students is the best thing that happened to those who choose to send their kids to other nonpublic schools. It is parents` choice.

I have seen the great strides step up students have made in my school. Education should be a choice. Look at public school and the problems they encounter. They spend more time teaching state tests when most teachers would like to be teachers again. The "too many chiefs and not enough indian mentality reigns at the state and federal levels." Paperwork and accountability have ruined the classroom. Private schools have far less money per child than public, but seem to be doing a better job at educating. The special interest groups complaining are the main problem with public education.

America is about freedom. I am a tax paying citizen and should be free to choose the educational environment that is best for my child.

I am a teacher in a school that accepts Step Up Scholarships. Many of our students have come to us because they were mistreated or not given fair and equitable education in the public system. We have nurtured and given these students a home. We NEED to be able to continue to provide these students a home. Public schools are over crowded anyway!

We would be devastated if our daughter couldn't attend East Pasco Adventist academy. She's in 3rd grade and has been there since prek. It would be such a setback for her to go to public school after going to a Christian school. It wouldn't be fair to our children. They deserve a good education. We want them to succeed & want to keep them in school where they are the main goal and classes are smaller, where they can pray and learn about out Creator. Please don't take this scholarship away. Too many children are dependent upon it.

I send my son to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Jacksonville, Florida to provide him with a quality education with Catholic values and high standards. In recent years there have been many Charter School in our same school district that come and go; largely, if not solely supported by the State of Florida and Duval County School System. Please leave the situation of the Catholic Schools and the TAX CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP alone. There is NO COMPARISON BETWEEN THE QUALITY OF THE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS AND THE 'FLY BY NIGHT' CHARTER SCHOOLS. Please work on correcting the problems you have with those school and leave the Catholic School System to continue to offer the good it does for those that want it.
