Too many lives affected by the crime and horrific violence that has consumed this neighborhood for years. So many victims feeling helpless and hopeless. Numerous of vacant abandoned homes, the apartments are ran down and trashed out. The children of the neighborhood have no outlet. The children have no true safe haven, and no where to play. All of the drug addicts, drug dealers, police profiling and the police/other authorities lack of concern.IT IS TIME TO PLACE FOCUS ON HIGHLAND HILLS AND MAKE THE COMMUNITY A BETTER PLACE. THERE ARE NO GROCERY STORES AND THE ONE DOLLAR STORE BARELY CARRIES ENOUGH PRODUCTS TO SERVICE THOSE IN COMMUNITY. ITS TIME FOR ACTION!!! The Pinks, The Browns, The Greens, and the whites should be torn down and better quality homes should replace the ran down horrible kept up units. Police are suppose to provide safety not make even the children fearful of engaging with them. The councilman of the community should be helping instead of ignoring...LETS PUT A STOP TO THE CRIME...LETS REBUILD TRUST LETS REBUILD FAITH LETS REBUILD HIGHLAND HILLS!!!!
I have spent this week walking through the abandoned units and documenting the conditions that our families are forced to endure every single day. The stories people are sharing with me confirm exactly why we started this fight to reclaim our streets. We are currently preparing a formal packet of these accounts to hand deliver to the councilman so he can no longer ignore the reality of our neighborhood.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that my neighbors are just as tired of the neglect as I am. This momentum proves that our streets deserve better than the cycle of violence we have been forced to survive for too long.
