The Metro Nashville Planning Commission is meeting on 1/28/16 at 4 pm at the Howard Building to vote to likely recommend that the Metro Nashville Council adopt a conservation overlay in Jackson Park and parts of Inglewood. Please sign if you are opposed to the proposed overlay and want its adoption to be delayed. Too many of us have not had proper understanding of it nor have we had enough notice of it happening and feel it is happening too fast. The overlay will be a forever thing and fundamentally change our property rights in ways that could be over reaching and burdensome to our community. Decisions about what we can do to and with our homes and property will no longer be ours to solely decide without approval from the staff of the Historic Commission. Not just zoning setbacks and height restrictions but aesthetic standards as well, possibly equating to more cost to you to maintain your home. The overlay is written with enough vagueness -in the opinion of this writer- that abuse of it could be administered in the future. I hope you sign this petition and add your address where you can if you want to send a message to our councilman, Anthony Davis, that we do not need or want this overlay. Mr. Davis has been very open and receptive. He cares about Inglewood and cares about what we think. Let's be respectful and offer him our opinions so he can be fully informed. Thank you!
