Stop the Exorbitant PHO fees Charged by The Public Health Council
We as public health trained practitioners would like to petition and seek redress over the matter regarding payment of Ksh 20,000 Council examination fees as a prerequisite to being licensed as a public health practitioner. We feel that the figure of Ksh 20,000 is exorbitant, and is not a reflection of all the other health cadres board examination fees and outrightly unfair. Public health Interns are never paid for their yearly dedicated services in public facilities and therefore it seems unreasonable to expect them to be able to pay that amount. The association (APHOK) is seemingly silent on the matter and therefore makes us question which body will impartially address any unfair or discriminate issues in the profession in the near future. We appeal to the council to stop the scheduled exams for 2016 until this matter is resolved including revision of the fees.
