This is absolutely shockingly bad procedure by SLAP and the council should reign this in immediately. As has all been said already, there are many skilled jobs and facilities at stake here which the island can ill afford to lose. The facts stated are that HNP actually offered twice the valuation for the land within the offers period and the way this other company has reared it's head long after the date stinks to high heaven. HNP is a vital part of the fishing, aquaculture and leisure boating maintenance scene and should not be being treated in this extremely shabby manner. The proposed hostel can easily be accommodated elsewhere. Mark Duncan.

This seems to be quite a shady deal. What is wrong with using the Bruce or Janet Courtney for accommodation?

Absolutely mortified by the treatment you are getting from SLAP. You should have first shout considering all the years you have been renting the place not to mention paying rent. Utterly disgusted that some human beings sometimes treat een another so badly in the name of money!! What has happened to Shetland?

It's terrible that this is even been thought of let alone gone through with. And who in there right mind would house students next to a pub.

If you have a bidding close date and you have bid higher than the worth why would you not accept it? Why then negotiate with someone else six weeks later? Probably money of course and the fact of the site is worth more if flats were to be built on it.

This is a shame that this is going on to HNP. They gave me a start in my career and the guidance and learning I was given by them has carried me throughout my working life. After reading the comments and recognizing some of the slap people names it is no surprise that it stinks. I wish Ian and the boys all the very best and hope some o the slap people get a grip and leave HNP alone to continue their work.

HNP is a crucial part of Shetlands engineering infrastructure and needs to be left alone to continue the great service they provide

I hope exposure to this ordeal shows folk just how greedy and twisted SLAP (a branch of the Shetland Charitable Trust..) are. This is a malicious and pathetic attempt to grab some extra cash.

Can't understand why a successful Shetland business has to be treated so badly by the very people who have our trust to act on behalf of the community.

Canna evict a company just because some guy is flashing cash and wanting to build more flats on the land. Get a grip, keep local businesses going!
