The Guilford Fair organizers have officially confirmed that they will no longer hire exotic animal acts for future events. I am truly stunned by this result and I know this change happened only because you chose to speak up alongside me. Thank you for making this possible.

After attending the Guilford Fair this year I was absolutely appalled that Guilford allowed the hiring of Master Mason with the Jacob Barreda Elephants. As I stood there I witnessed three elephants performing "circus" acts in the scorching sun with no choice to sit, find shade or water. My heart was completely broken and I had to fight to hold back tears. After about twenty min of forcing these beautiful animals to stand on small steps and shake their heads to "Shake it Off" the "Ring Master" proudly announced that kids would now be able to have a thrilling ride of a life time on top of these poor animals.

I plead with you to sign this petition to stop Guilford from hiring this or any other company that uses ANY exotic animals for entertainment at the fair for years to come!

I honestly never thought this would reach one hundred signatures when I started it. It is humbling to see so many people care about this as much as I do. You all are the reason this is gaining momentum.

I am truly overwhelmed by how many people care about these elephants. If we can reach five hundred signatures before I present this to the board, it will show them just how many people want change.

I thought town fairs were supposed to showcase local agriculture. How does an elephant even make sense at the Guilford fair? I have never seen a wild elephant in the woods, on the shore, or in the town center of Guilford. Disappointed in the town I grew up in.

If Barnum & Bailey did away with elephant show, they should be banned from any fair, circus, etc. It was cruel to see them in that hot hot sun. Guilford Fair organizers, please, NO elephants.

While I know my daughter loves elephants and would be so nice to them, we both agree that in order to make sure the elephant has a good life, we can't go riding them at local fairs. We want to do our part to make sure the elephants have a good life. This is from Izzy I, my beautiful daughter and me.

I have supported and participated in the Guilford Fair for many years but have stopped attending. The "carnival" acts that are exploitive to the poor animals is not only abusive but are contrary to the agricultural spirit that the fair and Guilford claim.

As a former Guilford resident now in Thailand supporting elephant rescue organizations, I am appalled to learn of this elephant abuse at the Guilford Fair. Please cease and desist immediately. These amazingly intelligent and sensitive creatures are not toys/games.

In the 21st century, please lets leave behind the cruel practice of keeping captive wild animals for human entertainment. Elephant sanctuaries would receive these elephants with open arms.
