Final supporters
In 2016, the City adopted a new comprehensive plan that envisioned a walkable mixed use center with retail, office, and high quality housing at this location. In Texas, the Texas Local Government Code requires zoning to be in conformance with a city's comprehensive plan.
On October 4, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-1 to recommend approval of this project, despite it's lack of conformance with the City's comprehensive plan. Should the City Council approve the project on Tuesday, the act would be illegal.
Please "sign" this petition to let the City know that we oppose the destruction of the vision for our city and neighborhood for sUhort term gains that the City has negotiated without public support. Please also forward asap to get as many signatures as possible since we are late to start this.

Call your representative today to demand they follow the law instead of fast-tracking this warehouse. This area needs to be kept as intended with shops and money being brought in that way not through a distribution center going towards corporate.
This is not a good of idea for the future of Forney or the citizens who have purchased homes in an area believed to be for residential usage.
We are staying with friends in this neighborhood and looking at buying a home in this area. But if this goes light industrial instead of the retail that was promised, then we'll be looking into Mesquite or Rockwall for sure.
We moved to Gateway partly because of what was purposed to be built outside the community. This is not what we were promised. I feel like we’ve been swindled.
We are against project fireball from being passed. This was supposed to be zoned for retail not light industrial.

I am against Project Fireball. I moved to Forney in February 2018 after 18 years IN MESQUITE. We went for a Sunday drive in October and took the Gateway exit just to see where the road went. We had no idea the community was so nice, we werent looking to buy just riding. We decided to buy a house in Gateway during the drive. We would not have purchased a home here if there was a warehouse or knew one was coming. We will move out of the city if this gpes through.
