STOP the Desert Flower Camping Resort on Highway 110

Changing zoning regs to allow commercial use in a long-established residential area is inappropriate, and would directly result in Loss, Harm and Damage to residents who currently and/or prospectively will own property adjacent to and nearby where this proposed campground would be.

Impacts to Big Horn Sheep, the water table already challenged by severe drought, the natural quiet of the local communities, deviation from historical uses, damage to the adherence to New Mexico architectural features will all be impacted irreparably by accepting this proposal. The visual impacts to visitors and locals who come over the knoll just past Adams who will no longer see the Rio Grande Gorge but rather 24-13 to 16 foot diameter tents that are 8 feet tall, standing 10-14 feet off the ground and at least 3 metal storage unit type buildings and upwards of 30 vehicles staring them in the face.

The visual impacts to visitors and locals who come over the knoll just past Adams who will no longer "see" the Rio Grande Gorge but rather 24-13 to 16 foot diameter tents that are 8 feet tall, standing 10-14 feet off the ground and at least 3 metal storage unit type buildings and upwards of 30 vehicles staring them in the face. You compound that with the known dangers and regular near misses by the local communities of out of state and local traffic traveling on a 22 foot wide road surface with no shoulder, blind corners, regular Elk and Big Sheep crossing at high rates of speed and drastic increases of use of the Cascabel trailhead, if anything is a recipe for disaster this is it! There are multiple lots for sale closer to Taos on C110 that will decrease these impacts, have longer sight lines, wider roads and won't impact the communities that have very few building standards that this proposal doesn't meet and yet still provides the opportunity of easy access to a variety of trails and the all encompassing views that Taos is known for.

I am opposed to this campsite for all the reasons stated, it does not belong in a residential neighborhood.

I am opposed and concerned about the noise and impact on our residential neighbor.

I oppose the location of the camping resort along Hwy. 110 for all the reasons stated in the petition.

I support the petition opposing the Desert Flower Camping Resort on/near Highway 110. Reasons 4. and 6. in the petition are particularly significant.

My wife and I live adjacent to the proposed campsite at 940 Old State Road 570. We will be speaking at the hearing. Thank you all for your support in opposing this proposal.

I oppose the Desert Flower Camping Resort for all of the reasons stated in the petition and in particular, #4. The water consumption and waste creation by a high density population would be inappropriate on this land.

There are many potential issues concerning this unwanted development including increased traffic, trash, noise, crime, depletion of our water resources, transients who will not be respectful of our neighborhoods and our culture, the destruction of the beauty of the natural landscape, etc.

This is totally unacceptable for the neighborhood.

We do not support this development.

We are not in favor of this use within this corridor.

I strongly oppose this development. It would be an eyesore and lower the values of the residential property in the neighborhood.

Thus is not appropriate use of this land and against the covenants for the area.

This does NOT belong in a residential area.

I have many concerns about this proposed campground. The above stated in the petition and more. I have sent an email stating my concerns to the county planning department, specifically Mr. Edward Vigil.
