Stop the Demolition of Lai Chi Vun Shipyards

The Shipyards of Lai Chi Vun represents the history of the shipbuilding industry in which Macao was of great importance, particularly at the time when Macao depended almost exclusively on shipping. These buildings constitute a form of architectural heritage built by the shipbuilders themselves that is proof of a unique cultural identity. The Government is currently carrying out the demolition of 11 structures from the 18 existing ones, claiming security issues without however having undertaken a study or developed a plan of what to do next. We call for the preservation of Shipyards wooden structures and their renovation for the use of activities related to culture; From museological areas, handicrafts, artistic-pedagogical center, workshops and leisure. New generations and city guests can learn the city history, attend various historical and art exhibits, and cultural events; great potential and opportunity to implement the so called Creative industries.

I am from Homg Kong I like Macau so much and I like this village so much It is so special, so beautiful and full of history Where can you find another place like this? Please don't take it away It is more valuable to preserve a history than whatever you are planning to do with it, especially when you don't even have a plan Please Please In my heart, Macau government is not only a politician or an investor You do care more Am I right?

For the last years nobody care about all the wood (teca) being stolen and sold every day, till the moment the structures loose their resistance.... Shame on it! .

Stop using excuses like the shipyard being risky to the local people because everybody knows you are making way for the land developers to gain profits!

Any industrial heritage in the city should be preserved, particularly Lai Chi Vun Village is the most complete heritage site of traditional wooden shipbuilding in southern China.
