More police officers are definitely needed patrolling the street and responding immediately when solicited by anybody being confronted by thieves.

I wish to support this petition as I lived in Mauritius and many things seem to have changed for the worse. Also here in Malta we have had the same bouts of burglary in different areas... mostly done by Rumanians coming in groups and targetting different areas. There were many victims but they were finally caught. The same could happen in Mauriitus.

Tamarin and Black River had now reach a development point that needs to be taken into consideration by authorities. Indeed, the increase of new inhabitants and new houses has not been followed by infrastructures such as Police force.

AFTER SUFFERING ARMED ROBBERY IN MY HOME SOME YEARS AGO I GAINED SOME COMFORT FROM AN INCREASE IN POLICE PATROLS OF MY AREA BUT THESE HAVE GRADUALLY DISAPPEARED OVER RECENT TIMES & SURPRISE, SURPRISE, THE THIEVES HAVE RETURNED! THERE HAVE BEEN BIG INCREASES IN POLICE NUMBERS BY BOTH THE LAST & THE PRESENT GOVERNMENTS BUT THE ONLY VISIBLE PRESENCE YOU WILL SEE IS TRAFFIC CARS SITTING BY THE ROADSIDE WITH THEIR LIGHTS FLASHING & WITH THE OCCUPANTS APPARENTLY DISINTERESTED IN CARRYING OUT PROPER CHECKS ON VEHICLES. EXCEPT OF COURSE FOR RIDERS OF SMALL CAPACITY MOTORCYCLES, MOST OF WHICH ARE INCAPABLE OF EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMITS, WHO ARE ALWAYS BEING STOPPED WHILE THE BIG 4 X 4 VEHICLES, TAXIS & BUSES TEAR DOWN THE ROADS AT OBVIOUSLY EXCESSIVE SPEEDS , IT'S NOT THE RESOURCES THAT ARE INADEQUATE BUT THE COMMITMENT & DEPLOYMENT OF STAFF & THE TOTAL INADEQUACY OF PUNISHMENT OF OFFENDERS THAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS FOR THE FEAR THAT IS EVIDENT IN THE AREA. AFTER I SUFFERED MY ROBBERY THE POLICE INVITED ME TO A SEMINAR AT RIVERLAND IN TAMARIN TO RAISE CONCERNS OF THE PUBLIC, GET ADVICE ON METHODS OF MAKING ONE'S SELF SAFER & HEARING WHAT THE POLICE STRATEGY WAS AGAINST CRIME IN THIS AREA. THIS SHOULD BE DONE URGENTLY AGAIN NOW TO RE-BUILD TRUST BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY & THE POLICE SO WE WORK TOGETHER TO DETECT THESE CRIMINALS & HAVE THEM PUT IN PRISON,

We need: More officers and more cars for regular police patrols. Coastguards to patrol the coast and prevent attackers landing from the sea.
