We urge Whitnash Town Council to revoke their request for the family of Ted Ellard to remove tributes from Ted’s bench in Whitnash, Leamington Spa.
Ted’s bench has become central to our community in whitnash and is visited daily by our very own residents as well as residents from neighbouring towns.
Ted’s family wanted to provide a place where the community could sit, remember our local hero ‘Little Ted’ and reflect in a beautiful and welcoming area. This has certainly been achieved and brings so much joy to our local community.
Please support us in signing this petition in the hope that our local council will do the right thing and continue to allow family, friends and residents the right to leave flowers, a balloon and similar tributes to a very special little boy. A boy that has touched the lives of our community and beyond.

It’s shocking that anyone would feel the need to complain about flowers, balloons etc being left on a child’s memorial bench. Ted has brought the community together and his family are going through enough heartache without this being added to it!
This bench and all it stands for is amazing for the community not just the family! I live close and there are always kids sat on it or looking for Ted stones! Why challenge a positive thing when most things in Whitnash and the world are so bad these days!
As an angel mom myself I understand city where your coming from, but to this grieving mother is heartless to do! This is the same as removing items off a childs grave because"others dont like them" . she paid for this memorial bench, leave her things be!
As grieving grandparents we are disappointed in Whitnash Town Council. We take great benefit from coming down to Ted’s bench and can see no harm in the items on there please reconsider your decision we have enough grief to deal with without this on top!
This family have paid money for this bench! They should be able to leave items on there if they so wish! Writing in the letter to them that people may wish to sit down is wrong considering there was no bench there before. Absolutely disgusting.
Please leave the memorial bench alone
Parents paid for the bench. They have a right to have what they want on it for their son.

A beautiful memorial for a much loved little superhero, Ted’s bench gives comfort and joy to so many residents and visitors from near and far, I find it hard to believe anyone would want any tributes paid to such a brave little boy removed!
