Year on year Powys is being hit hard by the Welsh Government with funding cuts, this year it is over 4% whereas Cardiff have received a 0.1% cut. Despite the low wages in the area Powys County Council continue to increase council tax charges. Please sign this petition against a wasteful Powys council that has spent £900,000 on laptops and mobile phones in the past three years despite public services getting less. The people of Powys have had enough of council tax increases.

I honestly cannot stop thinking about the money spent on those laptops while the rest of us are struggling with these taxes and it really makes my blood boil. Some of you have been sending me messages about your own bills and honestly I am just trying to keep track of it all because the stories are so frustrating.

I never imagined this would actually take off like it has when I started typing this up at my kitchen table after seeing yet another bill increase. It feels like the frustration has been sitting just below the surface for so many of us here in Powys and I honestly just had to let it out somewhere.

I can barely afford it now let alone when it rises i have a small child and one on the way but because we earn slightly over the threshold to not be a low income household we don't qualify for it to be less You are crippling us

4.25% PCC rise PLUS extra on top of that for the town council who are taking on the services PCC are stopping, it's gone too far!

they waste money on unnecessary repairs and then think it's ok to increase council tax for the hard working people of Powys many I might add working for the minimum wage or on pensions it's a disgrace

After reading the amount of expenses claimed by pcc in the last 3 years (Shropshire Star report, of 14 weds 9th March) that were even more than claims made by Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire over the same period, I think it's high time these allowances and expenses are scrutinised rather than let the low income families of Powys support them through even higher council tax bills!

We never hear of any council representative fighting our cause for fairness down in Cardiff. We have the biggest cut of all authorities yet we have the largest county which is obviously going to be more expensive to cover.

Increasing council tax while removing the services that it pays for is immoral. Were it not compulsory to pay coucil taxes, the population would be quite within its rights to simply stop paying. Two thousand pounds a year is a lot to pay for refuse collection and little else.
