Given the crash it eel numbers it is imperative that any exploitation/capture is stopped immediately. With luck and time numbers will recover so that a sustainable level of eels /elvers can be harvested. if no such ban is imposed they will be eradicated

eels have all but disappeared along the yorkshire ouse and its tributries and should not be allowed todisappear like burbot

We need to stop the prosecution of endangered eel stocks at both ends of their life cycle. The capture of salmon smolts would never be allowed so why glass eels.

We are fish merchants and stopped selling eels long ago . Along with wild salmonids, mullet and bass eels are too threatened to trade.

Eels have a hard enough time on their journey to a polluted Sargosso sea. If you reduce the numebrs of juveniles making the first journey then even less will make it back to breed.

The commercial exploitation of any species that is on the red endangered list should be banned until the species can be harvested on a sustainable basis. Stocks must be allowed to recover to previous levels
