It is outrageous that the export licences for a declining species should be granted. The European eel is the lifeblood of many native species including the european otter and many types of heron. For tonnes of the young elvers to be exported to satisfy the bloated 'gourmets' of some foreign nation is an indefensible outrage which must be stopped.
