Seriously? I mean seriously? To whoever's brainwave it is to close the SCR: you clearly have no idea of the postgrad student experience at Camberwell. The SCR is a brilliant place for the postgrad body to meet and interact in a wonderfully informal and relaxed setting. It was one of the best bits of my time at Camberwell. Like the Drawing Labs and Skillz Week which you also junked for cost cutting. And you're going to cross Maggi Hambling? Good luck with that.

so from going to that common room i’ve built relationships with people who i now share a studio with, formed a collective with, am
organising exhibitions outside of those things with, am working with and am generally friends with man - and each of these are different people.
none of those things would have happened without that space. i feel sorry for future students who are to be denied opportunities and for what? an extra office space. give over.

The SCR was an integral part of my MA experience. It's a space that encourages students to step outside their pathway and engage with others in the University, making it a safe space for building professional relationships in an informal space. It would be a great loss to Camberwell to see it go.

Cuts and choices on this decision are completely unjustifiable. Its a small but important part of the history of the college. Pictures of ex-technicians, a book of drawings going back decades provides a glimpse of past alumni at the leaving parties of old. This damages the college and all those who got a sense of belonging/social life from the space.

I am a former MA student at Camberwell and the MA bar was one of the best places to socialize and meet other people from different departmnets. I believe it would be a great loss for the future students and the atmosphere of Camberwell if it will be demolished.
