Shame on FIT for bullying FDB and puting them out of business unnecessarily. FDB was always a good neighbor and my go-to spot for project solutions--and had people who've walked in my shoes offering valuable advice, which is priceless.
The FIT bookstore is lackluster, and unlike FDB, has limited hours, materials, and only results in sending students into Midtown to more expensive fabric and notion sources.
FIT is following NYU and other schools here in swallowing whole what makes these neighborhoods worth inhabiting. Thank you for starting this petition! I hope justice for FDB prevails!

The store is also valuable to Chelsea residents! It's the best place in the city to find design and sewing supplies.

SUNY schools offer the least expensive accredited educations in the entire state. Stop whining about how expensive the tuition is. It isn't. Try paying for a BFA at Pratt or SVA. Your petty arguments in the comment section are so poorly articulated, it's no wonder the college would rather have a welcome center than accommodate a small group of spoiled complainers who can't even fathom walking farther than across the street for supplies.

Come on FIT, you have enough space. Don't pull that New York Real Estate card and force another small business out. Shame on you!

This makes me so sad! When I went to FIT I bought basically everything I needed for my classes there! Most if not all design students did the same, and I feel it would be extremely unfair to take away from the students!

The store has been a reliable source for affordable art supplies in time of need, please keep this store in range of Fasion Institute students who are already struggling to pay for expensive art supplies and tuition.

I'm not an art and design student, but I have purchased many things from this bookstore, and it was honestly a pleasure each time. It came in handy so many times and it's SO convienient that it's right across from the school. The prices were always the best around and there's no place like it. It's not just the art and design students who used this bookstore, we all do at some point. We all have projects and needs for tools, etc. It would truly be a shame if this bookstore closed and it will become much harder to get that many supplies at the prices they had. Stop the expansion. Turn the admissions office into a welcome center! Or turn a classroom into one! It really just seems so unnecessary.

A lot of the Art and Design department is very underdeveloped and could use work. I love how they decide to use money on a "welcoming" center instead of fixing it.
