You can not be "person centered" when you don't listen to the person. I can work where I want to work, why can't my son work where he wants to work. Stop this now, and put people first, not politics. Stop playing with the lives of those you never listen to. Stop history from repeating itself. You are forces people that are different back into their homes and locked away. It saddens me the state of New York has learned nothing from its own history of abuse to people with disabilities. We are running backwards with the new policies.

Please do not close our sheltered workshops . The people who work in the businesses have devleloped excellent job skills and have a sense of pride and accomplishment. To eliminate this from their lives would leave them empty and wondering what they did wrong to loose their jobs. After helping them build their self esteem and confidence you cannot yank it away.

This closing will destroy my daughter's life as well as many other's lives. These are people who need/want to live productive lives and have much needed socialization as others do, but this closing will take all of that away from these individuals. Don't do this !

It would be a crucial mistake to close these environments!! This is a safe place for their clients to learn, work and grow and be productive citizens. These must not be cut!!!

Without these work shops, many of our folks could not work anywhere else. We care, that is why these work shops exist.

my daughter who has Downes Syndrome works in a sheltered work shop. I cant imagine how detrimental it would be to her well being if this takes place.

Workshops are valuable for some people with disabilites. I am an advocate. Each individual needs to be looked at for their strengths and needs. Blanket policies are NOT appropriate

Why create a more costly and ineffective system that uses more tax dollars to reap less benefit?!

This is not a sound alternative for Individuals. Closing the workshops will only degrade individuals by taking their employment away and leaving them with no options for work.

closing the work shop would prevnet many folks from goiing to work and learning skills. I have a son with a disability and closing the work shop would higly change and affect his life.

I see the emorous benefit these programs and services provide on a daily basis. cutting these programs would be an enormous loss to our most vulnerable citizens. Please support our sheltered work programs!

I truly just feel that situations like this occur. I understand that budgets everywhere are being cut, but I feel that there are many other programs that can be cut before some of our most vulnerable citizens. Too many of these vulnerable citizens don't knnow any better or don't even full understand the outcome that will follow from the cuts.

Isn't the goal to assist in the "real" work environment of having a job, being resoponsibl;e, interactiong with others in the workplace, social skills? Pleasse, don't take the respect away from our folks who look to us as role models and helpers.
