I attended the first town meeting on this issue and asked the council members if the proposed new towers would provide coverage to the parts of town which lacked adequate coverage---especially in light of their opening statements about the recent medical emergency involving a resident who had injured himself in the west part of town who was unable to call from his cell phone for help. I was very surprised by their answer that these new towers (transfer station and Armory) would NOT improve coverage in the areas which need it. When asked why they would choose enhancing coverage in the east instead of figuring out how to improve coverage in the west---the answer was basically it's easier to accomplish. Yikes!!! Time to come with solutions to the problems at hand. Just because they are difficult to solve is no excuse. And doing something potentially hazardous to our health instead seems foolish and very short sighted.
