STOP THE CARD

The card costs a household like mine $4000/yr in lost interest, bonus points and discounts. Helping a minority by financially crippling the majority. My kids deserve protection too - protection from the card.

NO... Just NO ...Stop it

Lots of small businesses will lose money. Takes away options from people. The great majority of people are not substance or gambling addicts.

This card will not fix problems of illicit drug, alcohol or gambling abuse. It will in fact make it so that people with these addictions have to resort to criminal activities or prostitution in order to fuel their addictions. And the government keeps dangling the carrot of "accept the card and we'll also increase funding to rehab services" and "what about the poor starving children?". If that is the problem, why not make sure they are fed! No-one, no matter what colour their skin or their ethnicity, should be put on this card, unless they have a very real and proven issue, and additional support services are put in place, with a way off the card once they demonstrated they have overcome their addiction.

This unnecessary forced income management is expensive and divisive. At $10,000 per card per welfare client, that money is better directed towards a higher welfare safety net and other community welfare needs. I will not be dictated to as to where I can shop, who I pay my rent/ power/ internet to, and I still need to pay of my personal loan and/or credit card from when I was working. Indue would not allow me to do that! Additionally you have not idea what my other medical expences are in regards to doctors that are not bulk billing or medications I may be on that are not covered by pbs.

This card is being forced onto people that are perfectly capable of managing their own finances. It is degrading, demeaning and stigmatising. It is increasing violence and especially domestic violence.

This card is a violation of human rights. The right to pay your own expenses your choice your way without government control

This is not a proper use of Commonwealth revenue and the Australian people would not support such conduct. It is CORRUPTION disguised as PHILANTHROPY

This card stigmatizes and restricts the very people it is supposed to 'help' from using the tools they have to budget, to buy second hand, to have a neighbor, in the case of a regionally located or disabled person, pick up groceries at the shop for them; stops them from buying at markets, having people in town do odd jobs (ie, mowing, etc) for them, allowing children to do school activities (like a special BBQ as a fundraiser, or an after school dance, or etc), from using the school canteen if that's what their family uses ( -- and it's supposed to help, not restrict?). It stops online purchases on eBay and the like so people can budget, buy things cheaply, no op shop or local store unless they take cards - and god help you if there's a technical glitch or power outage, what then? This card does nothing but penalizes those doing the right thing, trying their best on a limited income. People doing the wrong this g already will keep doing it, or will be pushed further into crime (look st Ceduna's crime stats, for petes' sake.). Desperate people made more desperate will do insane things that one wouldn't think logical to get their fix, limiting income will not stop this, will only bring it out of the shadows more, increase crime, thefts, break and enters, etc, etc. It has been proven already, look at the police stats alone, northern territories, too. Limiting income has not stopped child services intervening, has not stopped the grog, has not stopped any of the problems it was meant to address. Education, rehabilitation services, health care (ie, closing the gap - but NOT just for aboriginals, for any lower socioeconomic group), taking away the little they already have won't help anyone. Health services already feel the strain, housing is the same, pics, too - bring the card in and the strain there is now will be nothing in comparison.

This card is an absolute disgrace

Small local buisness will suffer , australians have been told to support and buy local, and they should, this card takes cash away from local buisness its nothing more than a golden hand shake to woolworths coles and now aldi , shame australia shame
