Stop the bus cuts!

As we face a recession or worse a depression in the coming months, many people will not be able to afford cars and as a result public transportation will be the only reliable method for getting around. Fast and efficient transportation serving all residents will be vital. Sadly climate change with the need for reduced pollution from cars and dependence on oil will be overlooked as the region tries to recover from the current situation.

We need much more in the way of bus availability, whether it be WMATA, Ride-On or BRT. The greater the mix, the better.

We need more, and more reliable public transportation, not less. My family uses the J route and we would have to drive should the route be eliminated. That is not the solution to reducing traffic and pollution, and weaning us off of oil and gas.

My rode the bus home from bcc high school for 4 years. It allowed him flexibility and independence. He also used the bus to get to work in the summer. What would have been a safe alternative when he had 3 working parents? We need more dependable busses not fewer. To lessen congestion and emissions and to service out diverse community

I rely on metrobus everyday to go to work in DC. My kids and their friends take the bus daily! I have no idea how to get to work the metrobus is eliminated. Thank you, Nazila Fathi Linden Ave., 20814

We need more public transit, not less. Moreover, the budget cuts are leaving some people without direct bus access to DC, such as the Brookmont/Sumner residents dependent on the D5 (a very well-used and cost-effective bus route).

Improving public transportation service is critical to reducing traffic and commute times and for cutting down pollution in cities. The WMATA proposal goes totally against it.

Keep the D5 Alive! Solution: Make the D5 an express bus (it Limited stop) with same stops in Bethesda and then, for example, at Loughboro, Arizona Ave, Chain Bridge Rd, V St NW, Reservoir Rd, Q St NW and Foxhall Rd on the way to M St NW and keep the D6 for local service.

Obviously this is not a wise decision as or will be growing tremendously in the coming years. We need the service!

We need buses to cut down on individuals driving their own cars. Please reduce traffic congestion by keeping the D5 and other buses running. Thank you.

Please do not cut these bus routes. They provided much needed transportation to seniors like myself.

With the pending Westbard construction, bus transportation will be more important then ever. This is NOT the time to cut service!

We need our bus service!!

We need to focus on giving all residents easy access to reliable transportation not taking away or limiting existing service. That’s a UTurn in the wrong direction!

Please increase the service instead of cutting.
