We need more scientific basis for these tree removals. There is no reason to remove mature tres except for disease.

For the love of god leaves things alone. Nature will take care of itself and if you go ahead, ArlCo and do this work, you will make more of a mess than if you left it alone. Things don't always need to be "fixed" because nature is way smarter than we are. Besides, this park and trail are gorgeous. Don't rip it up and waste money doing it.

Second to developers, Arlington County cuts down more trees in the county than anyone. While preserving the urban canopy is said to be a priority, it really seems to be low priority.

Arlington claims to be proud of its tree canopy, and yet destroys it. It is beyond time to save our trees.

This community still cares about our irreplaceable mature trees - it is time to stop the foolish destruction.

Arlington needs to take its trees as resource more seriously. You can't replace a 100-year old tree in our lifetime!

Less destructive alternatives must be evaluated, and should have been before the first irreplaceable tree was cut!

Looks similar to what happened for the Wash Blvd. bike trail that originally planned to cut down many more trees. Penrose Neighborhood Assoc. pushed for redesign to minimize impact and somewhat succeeded. https://projects.arlingtonva.us/projects/washington-boulevard-trail/

Preservation of mature trees is so important. It takes so many years for a tree to "grow up" that it cannot be replaced overnight, if ever, when the tree's ecosystem is destroyed.
