This is no go proposal for different reasons 1. We are already suffering with lack of car park and traffic issues 2. We already have too many lodging houses in the area and some wellfare accomodation which unfortunately maintain the crime rate. I see funny business in our are and this will definitely increase with a boarding house. 3. We have been promised a Marina for so long, a development that will bring up the face of the area and will help the local business and instead the council is allowing a development that will -in every sense- deteriorate this nice suburb. Definitely NO.

I do not see Sydney City Council tearing down shopfronts and building towers of Boarding Houses in Pitt St, Sydney or along New South Head Rd, Double Bay so why is it ok to build this in the heart of our retail strip? This development will scare of restaurant patrons not to mention take up the very few spaces which can be found in the area, finishing off our already struggling retail strip. Commercial tenants are no longer interested in leasing in Brighton due to the parking issues. Retail is almost non-existent for the very same reason. Lose the restaurants and cafes and the suburb will be a row of empty shopfronts. Is that what you want council? Approve this development and stand to lose your greatest attraction. Then who will pay your rates? Councillors take note - WE elect you. Your job is to represent the COMMUNITY'S needs not look after the developers with deep pockets. I am not opposed to change - quite the contrary. Introduce beautiful unit complexes and demand developers contibute an extra level of basement parking to the community. Do this for each new development approval and soon enough our parking issues will begin to be addressed and retail/ commercial and the suburb in general will flourish. Look at the BIG picture amd address the parking and traffic issues that kwwp getting swept under the carpet. Change the zoning to residential units, lower the height and add more underground basement carpark levels and I will be happy.

Brighton-Le-sands is a beautiful suburb with charming shops. Putting a large tower in the middle of Bay Street would significantly reduce the individuality of the area, would close multiple small businesses, and would greatly exacerbate the already stressful parking situation. It is shameful for the council to consider such an addition to this area, seemingly without considering the impact of such a building on the local infrastructure.

Building will cause parking problems as Brighton is a very busy area where parking is scarce Area is small and congested and it's unsuitable to have a large development put here

This is a rediculous proposal. Who is going to be in the boarding house. Ex criminals drug addicts, homleess.??? This is not a hotel or the normal residential accommodation to rent or purchase. We do not need or want this development.

I have no objections to boarding houses, but in the middle of our beautiful beachside suburb!!! Are they kidding. So many of us do not venture out in particular during the night due to a seedy side to our suburb emerging. If this goes ahead, we will be encouraging and adding to the crime already existing. Lets make it a beachside suburb to be proud of, not scared of. Take the boarding house to the other side of the railway-plenty of room there.

New 11 stores building to be build with only 22 car spaces? Are you serious? If anybody wants to build a new building the building should be sustainable + with car spaces for each flat at least as families own more then one car + spaces for visitors!

As a resident of Brighton Le Sands I want to keep this to a village feel where we have our coffee shops, restaurants. This will start making it like a ghetto. Our parking is stretched to the limits and you want this monstrosity to be built. This housing is required maybe but not here. If the Govt is feeding this Development with regards to housing refugees we will find out and dig deeper. The crime rate here has started and no way am I going to allow this to escalate.

Stupid idea. Councl should be cleaning up the area not making it into a ghetto. Get some speed cameras onto Bay st too.

I am seriously concerned about this development. There are already serious traffic and parking issues in our area that Council has not addressed. Our infrastructure can't cope. This will only add to the problem. If it is to be approved, please make the developer dig several extra floors of basement parking to accommodate their own new residents.

For those interested in submitting a letter directly to council, feel free to use our template below or copy, paste and modify. Thank you for your support and also to Daniel for making this template available to all, Bay St Action Committee Name: _________________ Address:________________ ______________________ ______________________Email: _________________ Phone: ________________ Bayside Council Attention: Fiona Prodromou PO Box 21 Rockdale NSW 2216 or by email: [email protected] RE: DA-2017/194; 295 Bay Street Brighton-Le-Sands NSW 2216 Dear Ms Prodromou; I contact you in regards to the abovementioned Development Application. As a local resident, this proposed development is of serious concern, as it will have significant negative impacts on the area. There are many serious issues that have not been addressed in the DA. 1. Traffic on Bay Street The development will cause considerable traffic increases during and after construction. There has been no plan put in place for managing the increased traffic flow. 2. Local Parking Congestion The DA allows for parking spaces for only a fraction of the new lots being built. The developers own consultants have conceded that there is a shortfall in parking spaces in the development. Parking in Brighton-Le-Sands is already at a premium; a new high-density development is only going to add to what is already a major problem. 3. Noise Pollution Such a development will add to the already major noise pollution problem on Bay Street. No local department, be it council, state government or the police are adequately addressing this problem. Adding a multistory high-density complex with a rooftop entertaining area is going to only make it worse. 4. Street Front Appearance The design of the development is not at all in fitting with the surrounding buildings. 5. Complex Usage A “boarding house” is totally unsuitable to a family orientated residential area. It is not
