Public would be happy to fund vacs of all cattle. It's not even a debate about the cost because farmers and hunters alike enjoy shooting to kill : whether for fun or in the name of science-doesn't matter. These people have the strongest lobby hence such support from DEFRA and Nat Eng as well as the high courts.
Eradicating wildlife is not a scientific or humane solution.
We live in an un democratic society where those with the most money are heard and our Legal
System is not easily accountable for its behaviour to anyone.
The cull is senseless and mindless : it is not approved of by majority of the public and the public should have the last word.
We have no faith or confidence in the Government to make the right choice and no confidence in DEFRA who modify their advice in contrary to scientific data to please farmers/Nat Eng
With such loss of confidence in public offices we need to appeal to the international community to talk sense to the current govern

They have just had to stop in Glocs. Too late for the ones already slaughtered. Just to save face instead of doing the honourable thing & never allowing it to start.

Culling badgers hasn't worked in the fight against bTB since 1971. With that in mind it's time to stop this inhumane needless slaughter of UK's wildlife and put the money to the alternative long term solution - Vaccinating wildlife, badgers, and cattle; alongside better farming husbandry and security around the cattle and livestock units to prevent wildlife getting in to this now industry. Why should any badgers pay with their lives for a problem they are not the cause of? Answer: They shouldn't!
We need wildlife for balance, it serves a purpose, yet that purpose is being ignored, totally.
After all we vaccinate and medically treat humans, we don't just dispose of them. So what gives the powers that be the right to play God with other species' lives!?
Listen to the science!
The government (AKA the tax-payers) spent millions to obtain that scientific conclusion to their survey (1997-2007).
This pilot cull has gone horribly wrong and should never have happened in the first place.

I truly believe that vaccination programmes in all counties would be an effective way to stop the Tb problem. Culling is a very destructive way of dropping badger populations to the threatened lists of species. This is unacceptable. Be humane, think before you act!

I understand that badger vaccination is going well in some areas. If the vaccinated badgers are micro chipped at the same time, as happens in some areas, then they can be tracked - which provides very useful information. This procedure is said to cost far less than the cull, is humane, and a permanent solution. Investing money in a good vaccination for cattle is also vital. Both the above provide a far better, long term solution to TB which is humane as well as effective.
