Stop the three-story social housing development on crn Swan St and Corella St

30 year resident in 949 Kestral street very concerned about the impact of this development in the area.

I am an NDIS participant. In the past few months, a couple of my support workers have left me. One of the reasons was that they felt the public housing neighbourhood was unsafe. During support sessions, people have sworn and yelled at each other right outside my home, cars parked on the street was threatened by strange people, and drug dealers are often roaming around. These situations make support workers feel unsafe and unwilling to continue. When I lose workers, it leaves me without the daily help I rely on, increasing my stress, isolation, and risk. I know there are other NDIS participants on the same street. A safer neighbourhood would mean stable support for people with disability like me.

Please reconsider the scale of this complex.

I don’t live here but l do visit this area often and I believe a three story social housing building anywhere is a recipe for a slum. This is not forward thinking by the housing authority.

Do not want this area to turn into a slum

Public housing is already too concentrated in this area.

We do not want this monster of a building in our area, it would be so out of place amongst single story homes, of residences that have been here for many years. The area is so unsuitable in this area, as the streets are on the daily thoroughfare for drop off and pick up, at St Anne’s Primary School, and Xavier College. Also on the weekends sports are held in Sarvass Park, causing a bottle neck of cars etc, and many drivers don’t know how to drive carefully. A 3 story building would be so out of character for this area, to go from 4 houses (currently) to 27units (proposed), would be ridiculous. Other units in North Albury now can’t look after where they live, leaving rubbish everywhere and piling what they don’t on the nature strip, and then what is that type of proposal going to do, to the value of the existing houses, should they wish to sell there property’s. Many of these residences in this area, the occupiers have been here for many years. Please not in that space.

I am very concerned, regarding the development that is being proposed for Swan and Kestrel St North Albury. This area is most unsuitable as the roads are very narrow and at times very busy. Local buses use these roads to service St Anne’s school, and Xavier College, and many days 2vehicles cannot pass. It also will bring down the property value of the homes in this area. 3 story buildings is so out of character for this area. In our past experience, many of the tenants, have extremely disturbed the peace of this area, who have spent years, improving their homes, to be faced with a monstrosity of a building, in this area. For these reasons we would not like to see this development take place.

Lived there for many years & over the past few years found properties deteriorate. Always has old furniture and rubbish on the street footpath. Young unemployed people roaming the street with little or no regard for older generation. Residents now locking their properties with 2 or 3 gates for security. Found quite a few people rambling loudly down the street night and day - assume these poor soles have some mental issues. No I would not like the school children who walk home down our street to experience any further any altercations with unwelcome others. The area has enough problems without the congestion of the proposed housing complex. Police are regularly visiting other similar housing just around the corner from me. There is a duty of care to the owners of the area and this complex I believe would put a higher risk factor to the residents and their properties.

Certainly not a three-storey complex. It is not suitable to the area and brings many concerns of safety to existing residents.

This development will ruin the good, modest, character of our area. Already a large concentration of public housing, this development will discourage home owners from any future improvements and scare off like minded investors. We already have significant challenges with traffic congestion and limited parking options with the schools and sporting grounds in this area, putting families and residents undue strain, causing frustration and safety concerns for both drivers & pedestrians. This development is simple not sustainable and responsible.

The parking is already ridiculous along Swan St when training and sporting events are held on the oval. Most evenings and Saturdays you have to reverse into a driveway to let a car move in the opposite direction. There is already a large social housing block next door, meaning there is an excess concentration of social housing in the area.

NSW Housing needs to visit this site on a Saturday and at the end of the school day so they will see for themselves the existing traffic congestion that they don't believe their serious parking shortfall will contribute to.

The traffic flow through this area is already overflowing. The sporting facility in Sarvas Park does not provide enough parking. People have to park on both sides of the street reducing the flow of traffic. The area is simply not suitable for high density housing and movement of traffic associated with it.

Just too much concentration of public housing and the impact on traffic flow in the local area will be overwhelming

This development will ruin the area.
