This is a terrible and heartless idea. The location may benefit the Transit Authority, but it will be a nightmare for nearby residents--not only those at hand, but those living blocks away.

The "MTA Substation" is merely a huge real estate deal. It does NOTHING to help or improve the neighborhood for those living there! Rather, it will make it considerably worse.

I oppose the 28th substation due to environmental impact, disruption to pedestrian and traffic flow and further increasing the rat population in an area already overrun. Our area is surrounded by construction projects and no end is in sight. This leads to air pollution and particular matter inside apts.

With construction on the corner of 26th and 8th already moving forward, the 28th street substation would put Penn South residents in a sandwich of construction. This is a blatant attempt to build a substation further away from streets within the scope of the Vornado Project.

No! We have had nothing but noise for the lat two years with mega buildings going up in our neighborhood. Not to mention the health hazards the city is so ready to overlook because we are subsidized housing. Build it by the new gargantuan office buildings - the streets will be closed to acommodate all the cement trucks anyway.

MTA's decision to build an underground electrical substation is an assault upon the residents of 28th. Street and must be vigorously opposed by all of us who live in Penn South.
