Final supporters
We are putting forth this petition on behalf of students, with regards to the current pandemic situation in Maldives.
After several discussions with college and university students, it has been made clear to us that the majority of students are currently not in the right headspace to be taking part in new modules and back to back assignments provided by the colleges. We would like to note that we have a number of students who are currently working on the front lines during this pandemic in the Police and MNDF, as well as other organizations. These students are not able to find the time to sit in for online classes or complete assignments and have the fear of falling behind.
We would also like to highlight that a large number of our society do not come from well off families. These students do not have the means to access the internet or complete their assignments due to difficulties obtaining laptops or having to share one with other family members. This in turn makes sitting for online classes and completing assignments and exams rather difficult for some students.
We humbly urge the relevant government authorities to take this into consideration and provide a swift solution regarding the concerns of students.

My son is taking these classes. He still couldn’t download some lessons from the past two weeks. And the video file is corrupted due to bad internet connection. College is asking him to submit the assignment before 1st May. How can he send when he doesn’t know what to provide? I’m paying his college fee monthly, but I refuse to pay these classes. Government should stop these classes
I'm from Mi College. We asked lecturers and college management to stop these classes. But they don't listen to students. Instead of that they continued classes. They deducted only 10% of the course fee. Some students told me that they got several assignments from college and they do not have facilities like computers, laptop to do the assignments. Government need to stop these classes as soon as possible.
College is asking us to pay the tuition fee. And do you know how they teach us? they use whatsapp group. No video conference. Government need to stop these classes since some colleges are taking advantage of this pandemic

Totally agree with this. Internet needs to be an essential. If that's not possible, online classes shouldn't be there. Education is not for a specific class. It's for everyone.

I think it is impractical at this point and it doesnt let the teachers give much attention to explanations and all of their students simultaneously
