These types of strictures are sexist and unreasonable. This is 2021, not 1957.

It getting hotter each day and in Florida you can't do anything about it even in school it 90 degrees and you want us to wear shorts that cove most of our upper leg and shirts that cover our shoulder and sides also don't forget our stomach. With this dress code and how you treat most of us girl you are taking time out of our learning and the results that you get are due to unfair treatment to us. Making hard to get clothes is stressful. I spend to much time think is this out of dress code, then by the time I done getting dressed I am late for my bus

Schools really need to be more leinit and let girls where what the want as long as they aren't exposing their privates or anything like that.

Instead of teaching girls to dress accordingly to your standards maybe they should work on shaping the guys at our school to be "sexual hormonal predators" a girls body is a girls body maybe we should teach boys to respect that

My little sister goes to this school, and I think that, rather than focusing on how much of herself she should have to cover, she should be focusing on her education. Maybe if the male students are too distracted by the female students, they should be sent home until they learn to behave themselves better?

"I don't think my bra strap, shoulders, back, or legs are going to distract students or faculty. This dress code is telling girls to cover up so that they don't distract boys because 'boys will be boys'. It's hot; girls are going to wear shorts and tank tops. We should stop teaching women to change sk they don't have to fear men, and start teaching men to respect women." ~Anonymous

The dress code at Saint Augustine High School is sexist. It is said that women/girls cannot wear certain things because they are distracting. This is teaching adolescent women that they just cover up so that a man is comfortable. Teaching them that their anatomy is a distraction and teaching boys that sexualizing girls is okay to do because of the way they dress. No human being is a distraction or a sexual object. Girls are not to wear pants or skirts that are "too tight" or that "hug their butt" but I will never see the day when a male is dress coded because his pants are too tight and they hug his crotch. We live in Florida, temperatures of 90 degrees and hotter are very common, but girls are expected to stay in a strict dress code that can cause over heating and extreme discomfort. No one is asking to wear a bikini top or daisy dukes to school. This petition is about a more equal and reasonable dress code for all students and all genders.

As a proud owner of almost 30 pairs of chubbies, and a frequent in school wearer, i understand some of these issues. However, guy shorts and girl shorts are totally different. While ours may be considered as "short shorts", they still go below even half of our thigh, and when standing do sit below the 4 inch threshold. Sorry, but there aren't many girl shorts that sit below 4 inches above the knee that would be considered "in style." So quit complaining about not being able to wear things that you wouldn't wear anyways.

I agree very strongly about this statement I was a victim to this. I was wearing leggings and they decide it was right that I go to iss because my shirt was not long enough to cover my butt or my dress was a little above 4in it's a terrible dress code if you ask me.

No one is distracted by what we are wearing besides the faculty. Most of us have been to the beach together, seen wearing less than shorts that qualify under the four inch rule. It doesn't make sense. And how are pajama pants inappropriate? Why must we have pockets? There are many unreasonable things in our female dress code, and I am begging that they be thought over and changed.
