This is outrageous, without consulting parents and going ahead with this new concept.. Breathable fabric? The original hijab(headscarf) was just fine..

They are disrespectful to the religion and they are taking away the girls rights of wearing thier own scarves and expressing themselves.

The school should have been more aware of the impacts of their choices before trying to enforce this rule. I strongly agree with your view completely.

Ladies, do not let a stupid school rule take what's yours away from you! No school has the authority to take away something that belongs not only to yourself, but also a big part of your religion. What is Sir John Thursby as a school trying to do? Divide one another? This is disgusting. The head teacher needs to put his act together and fix himself. Not only will this allow racial bullying to occur, but it will also take away any self esteem young girls have. Don't take away a right that does not belong to you! SJT has always been a pathetic school. It won't take long for someone to burn that place down!

I am very disappointed with the poor judgement by the school. My son is a student and a second is due to start in September, this makes me very worried.

Personally I think that the new headscarves rule is the most barbaric rule the school has come out with. Being pressured into wearing a scarf you're not comfortable with is unfair. One of the main purposes of a headscarf is to cover the chest but the new headscarves do not even come close to achieving that. Girls should be allowed to wear a scarf which strengthens their opinions on modesty

I can't believe the behaviour of some teachers and so called leaders of the town who don't realise the importance this is to our girls and their dignity .....
