Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Seattle is sick and tired of Seattle City Council members kissing butt to Amazon, and having developers building apartments and condos to Amazon workers and not filling the needs of the homeless and people who cannot afford the rents because of tech workers and Amazon employees monopolizing rental properties and increasing rents. The homeless and almost homeless would have better living conditions if they would have affordable housing. Quit catering to companies squeezing out the middle and lower income people.

Stop enablement.

This is not safe for residents, especially children who need to play in the parks, or for the homeless people!

The council needs to act responsibly and study this and seek input before voting.

Please look at the repercussions this ill-advised plan has had on out neighbors in Portland, who enacted a very similar policy. I get that you don't want to be sued by the ACLU, but this should not be enacted without due process, including citizen input.

Please come up with a better solution!

It's time our elected officials listened to the electorate. It's also time to seriously consider "TERM LIMITS"and a return to citizens right to vote on ALL council positions.

This is beyond ridiculous.

How is camping in a greenbelt/public park better than under the freeway? Police access to a park such as Interlaken is just as difficult as at the freeway locations. We need to focus on planned temporary housing, rehab and mental health services. This proposal is just moving the problem to other locations.

Not the solution.

How in the world is this a solution to the homeless problem???The money the city will spend cleaning up the mess is sickening considering the city could build affordable housing instead.

So now we have to pay to loose our parks. Time to move out of Seattle.

Please stop the City of Seattle from allowing our parks, schools, and sidewalks to be used for homeless encampments. No tents!

Helping Seattle is a homeless should be a council priority. The council should be informed by Portland Oregon's experience. Mike O'Brien's solution goes to far and has unintended consequences. I support Jim Burgess or modified approach. Pete Wickstrand

There must be a better way to help homeless people.

Public camping will be a disaster for this city in so many ways. Please put a stop to this plan, it was not thought out before the proposal.

These parks are for enjoyment of the people, not camping. Stop doing this.

All we want city parks back!

If they chose to live in the jungle, then let them. We should provide some portable toilets and open top garbage cans for them to use too. It makes more sense to provide some basic means for sanitation, rather than cleaning up a biohazard mess. Pushing them to parks is an absolute joke and will make them less enjoyable and also a mess with garbage and human waste. The mayor and city council need to be better leaders!
