Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Please, please do not allow this to happen. We have rights as tax payers. Please do not ruin our neighborhoods. I moved to the Interlaken neighborhood in order that my three children would be able to walk to school. The homeless encampments in Interlaken would change everything. I simply do not understand why this needs to happen. Invest instead in affordable housing.

Please don't destroy our public parks. Homeless individuals belong in shelters, not in the parks!

Urban parks are not for camping. Only very limited exceptions should be made and those areas closely supervised.

This is not the direction our city needs to be going!

This is an absolutely horrible idea. It is a safety and health issue. As a taxpayer, I want to be able to enjoy our parks without feeling in danger, not to mention how it will absolutely ruin our beautiful green spaces. Our taxes are already contributing 47 million dollars, this year alone, to deal with the homeless problem. This is actually increasing our homeless problem, as homeless people are coming to Seattle from other cities. The term freeattle is around for a reason. Allowing homeless people to camp in our parks will only attract more homeless to our city.

The impact of this bill on our parks - a valuable urban natural resource - is irreparable. Further, it does NOT help the homeless.

Unrestricted camping will harm, not help, the homeless population.

I am a taxpayer and expect that the parks will be there for my enjoyment. Stop this madness!

We need the homeless issue to be removed, not promoted.

I do not and will be convinced to support this legislative bill. This is "social suicide" by further enabling the issue instead of resolving it.

Stop this from happening to our parks where we take our children to play and be safe.

Thanks for this petition; a great way to gather some many signatures in a short time. Everyone I know is against homeless being allowed to camp on public land. This is not the answer.

very very bad idea. The moment anyone can inhabit a park is the moment it is not public anymore. It is unacceptable to be afraid of entering our own parks.

This is a real and terrible problem in Seattle but the appropriate solution is not to open up our city parks for homeless camps. They do not have the appropriate infrastructure to ensure a safe and sanitary situation for the homeless population and the neighboring residents.

Pls do not legalize camping in our greenbelts, parks and public right of ways. There must be more study, and a public vote on this important issue.

It is the job of government to provide for their citizens. Allowing these encampents is a dereliction of duty and is in no way helping to solve this critical issue. This "solution" will only cause additional problems and unecessary ill will. This is an unstable population that requires support and expecting laypeople to deal with this issue is irresponsible.

I used to enjoy walking in Woodland Park. Now I feel there are large areas that are off-limits to me because campers have taken them over as their own personnel spaces.
