Council, please tell me how this will keep more homeless from coming here. We can't house all the homeless that are here and more are coming because we cater to this lifestyle.

Camping in public spaces keeps no one safer; not the homeless, not our children, not our community. Please find a better solution.

If I thought this bill would help the homeless, I would be all for it. I believe that our resources need to be directed to providing homes, rehab facilities, mental health facilities, etc. Our parks are for everyone's mental health. I go for an early morning walk in Magnuson everyday. I would not feel safe there if this bill passes.

Absolutely disgraceful! Piles of human excrement, dirty syringes, garbage and disgusting people are now common in the city of seattle. I won't let my kids play in city parks now because I'm worried that some creep in a tent will do something to them or they'll step on a needle. Are these bums more important than the hard working tax payers?! I'm done with the liberal idiots in charge of the city of seattle who worry about these worthless BUMS more than the people who actually contribute to seattle. I don't care where they go but I want them out of the state of Washington!

Permanent camping on public lands is not a solution. I'm not opposed to a tax to help pay for actual housing (would prefer a state income tax to pay for this and fully funding education in this state). We have billionaires building all over this county and we can't find a way to house the homeless? Come on Seattle, come on King County, come on State of Washington. Fully fund education; provide services and housing for the homeless. Camping in our city's parks is NOT the solution.

Absolutely ridiculous idea with no regard to the safety and integrity of our parks and public spaces.

The parks where children play is not an acceptable place to set up homeless camps. Use this to fund Mary's Place or emergency services.

Using our parks as campgrounds for the homeless would be a grave mistake, make them unsanitary and unsafe. There are plenty of other options.

Provide more shelters and housing for the homeless.

Did any council members ever talk to people in Portland about their similar failed effort to legalize camping in the their city? Maybe you could learn from their experiment without subjecting Seattle to 2 years of your experiment!

Parks where I like to take my children and my dog already have tents and no police presence, even before this proposed action. Now they will become a dangerous place, reserved for the lowest common denominator of humanity, not for those who pay for their upkeep.

I have sent the City Council several emails and pictures begging them to find another alternative. Why not get the word out on the streets that all people living outside must register. Hold a few giant registration dates and filter through the registrations to get them all the appropriate help they need. The cost of cleaning up after them for years to come will far outweigh taking a methodical path. We also need to plea for a state of emergency. Other states are sending their homeless here. We should be compensated in order to deal with this problem.

Homelessness is a serious social and moral issue that must be substantively addressed. Free camping is not a solution.

There needs to be a better, safer way to approach this issue. The proposal is a cop out

Development has run amok in the city and so little is asked of the developers to create housing and parks as part of the plan, Instead the Council wants to put the burden on the citizens to give over their parks as tent cities and continue their volunteering and funding of these public places. Kshama and the other sheep on the council ( except Tim Burgess) are robbing the citizens (and future citizens) in favor of the developers and now the ACLU.

This approach will literally increase the size and impact of the homeless problem. Also, what space will be offered next, my driveway?

This city grows more unsafe for women and children every passing day. Unorganized encampments are dangerous for the women living in them and the women and children living around them.
