I'm for homeless rights - but this is ridiculous. My children play in these parks, I pay taxes to make sure these parks are clean and safe. Please provide services for these people.

I have begun to truly feel afraid in my neighborhood (Roanoke Park) near our park etc and have started to carry pepper spray when I walk my dog or go for a run in my neighborhood. I cannot what believe our elected city council is doing to our beautiful city. There have to be other options then for the homeless and mentally ill other then this terrible idea.

Allowing camping in parks and sidewalks does not address the needs of many of these people. There needs to be a solution for mental health and drug addiction. Camping will destroy these areas, making them unsafe and unusable for others. I can't imagine walking my dog or taking my kids to the park in this environment. Who will be cleaning up the human waste, garbage, and needles? Our parks are beautiful, and we should work to keep them this way. People camping on sidewalks, blocking businesses and patrons is completely unacceptable as well. Please work to find another solution!

Unless you want parents getting concealed weapons permits, and the weapons to go with, just to feel safe taking the kids to the park you wil rethink this.

I don't know the answer to Seattle's homelessness problem, but I agree strongly that the answer is not letting the homeless camp in our City's parks and/or pitching a tent on city property that borders my home.

This is a public safety hazard. No encampments! People need dignified and involuntary mental health or addiction treatment if they cannot cooperate with shelters, not enabling.

Just when you think the city couldn't do anything crazier they come up with this. This is no way helps the homeless and ruins our community resources

This is going too far. We need to find a balance between helping and enabling the homeless. We also need to make sure we are supporting our children's right to safe, clean public parks and ballfields. Homeless' rights should not supersede our children's.

The ordinance proposed would be a mistake. Why pass legislation that would make it more difficult for the City to enforce its laws? I have sympathy for homelessness and understand that the City will need to continue to devote resources to be able to address those problems but effectively condoning short term housing in any public areas while giving public interest attorneys the ability to thwart City efforts to effectively deal with the problems from homeless encampments will only make homeless issues in this City worse.

This is ridiculous and irresponsible, this will not help the homeless long term or tax paying citizens.

Please help homeless people; but allowing camping in public parks is unsafe and does not help them.

I am signing this petition because I think Council Bill 118794 if passed will cause more harm than good in the city of Seattle. Take a clue from Portland and do not pass this bill. Listen to the citizens who are against this bill. I would bet that if it were put to a vote of the citizens it would never pass.

This is insanity posing as goodness. People who care will get these few thousand people help, and not ruin the islands of beauty for millions of the rest of us.

Keep out of the parks and off the sidewalks. Get help or go away.

I pay your wages, it's time you listen to us. No homeless encampments in public parks, parking lots, parking strips, or anywhere else i have the right to access without fear! How outrageous. You think you can fine the working man for not providing water to the homeless?! Spend my money better or get a new job. Stop attacking more homeless to this area.

This is not the right solution to a tough problem.

There is no way to enforce this with the current lack of SPD Officers, not to mention no one would have any idea when someone began their 30 day stay. There is a percentage of the homeless population who are criminals and crime is already out of control. This would cause crime to get even worse. This proposed ordinance appears to be in conflict with the Mayor's Declaration of Emergency for Homelessness and also the Seattle Parks and Rec rules http://www.seattle.gov/parks/about-us/rules-and-regulations Also, every single night across the city, there are unused shelter beds. Why is that? Because the homeless don't want to follow the rules of shelters? or? This issue of available beds needs to be looked into immediately considering this dire situation. We are better than this ordinance. The Mayor and City Council need to do their jobs and stop trying to force this kind of horrible legislation on Seattle citizens. Brainstorm with citizens and come up with a better plan than this!!!
