The people of Seattle don't need band-aid solutions when it comes to homelessness. We need to find more creative and effective ways to work together on this issue, not increase the amount of conflict that will definitely arise from this bill.

My family and I use our parks regularly and DO NOT want them to be turned into homeless encampments. There are SO many other ways to get folks the help they need - we need to keep our parks safe and available for our families.

Let's not ruin our beautiful and pristine parks that allow families of all incomes to enjoy some peaceful and quality time by allowing the tents, garbage, and unsanitary conditions that homeless encampments inevitably bring.

Allowing encampments throughout our city's green spaces is NOT the solution to homelessness. Please defer a vote on Council Bill 118794. This issue needs further discussion. Citizens of Seattle, who pay taxes for the maintenance of public properties, need to have a say as to how our parks and other green spaces are used.

This legislation is taking the easy way out. It is saying mercy & that this council can’t fix – or even help - the problem. So best just legalize it. It is not evaluating the rights of the homeless and the tax base evenly. It is ignoring my rights as a citizen. I also have rights to free passage on our sidewalks and community spaces. It is not improving the lives of our homeless – it is simply moving their location. It is eliminating the ability for our community to make decisions on danger & appropriateness.

I want to address root issues regarding homelessness, instead of continuing to push the issue aside by letting people sleep in unhealthy and dangerous settings.

Note that the the bill also always tents on sidewalks. In our neighborhood that would be right in front of the elementary school. Really? We expect Seattle City Council and local government to come up with better solutions.

Icompatible use. This is a park with many children on warm days of all ages. Many live in high density apartment buildings and need safe park space for health and fitness. The closest open space for recreation is the beach. The large building builders have not provided park space and keep raising rents which increases the number of homeless people. We need solutions, not alternatives that complicate the issue and destroy the neighborhood.

Please don't let this happen to our parks! These parks are our escape to peaceful beautiful surroundings away from the craziness. This will impact the parks greatly because they will be left dirty with all the garbage from their drug and alcohol use. This is Not a place you want to bring your friends and family too. Please stop this from happening!!!!

Please keep our parks as parks and not as shelters.

Terrible idea! This failed horribly in Portland and is a serious safety threat to all. I pay taxes and this is NOT what I want any of my money used for. I have compassion for those in need, but this is NOT the answer. Please listen to the voters of this city and do not let this proposal pass.

This is not the answer! Please sign to ensure that the council members do their jobs and come up with a viable solution!

Please do not turn our parks and sidewalks into unsafe, unsanitary and sub standard housing for the homeless. They deserve better and so do the communities we all live, work and play in daily. Thank you, Dawn Robinson

This is terribly irresponsible of the city to propose that our neighborhood parks be used as homeless encampments. Our neighborhood is adjacent to Interlaken Park and children walk through the park, including trails into the woods. Our protected greenbelts should remain protected -- not just for the sake of the wildlife but for the pleasure of citizens. Urban camping is not the solution to our homeless problem. Mental health facilities/services and safe housing are sorely needed. For the city council to allow people to set up camps in city parks is simply irresponsible.
